[HowTo] Create a desktop shortcut to always start Firefox in Private Browsing mode

Private Browsing mode in Firefox allows you to browse internet without storing any data in the browser. The data such as

  • Browsing History
  • Passwords
  • Form Data
  • Passwords

Get cleared automatically when you close Firefox.

You can always start Firefox in private browsing mode from the menu bar, In this tutorial we will explain how you can modify the Firefox shortcut so that it always starts in private browsing mode, You can use the shortcut permanently for private browsing

Lets first create a copy of the Firefox shortcut , and We will rename it to “Firefox-Private

Right click on the newly created shortcut, and navigate to Properties,

Append “-Private” to the target field link. Your final target path should look something like this

“C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe” -Private

Modify the Program Files path accordingly, If required
Click on OK
Done! Clicking on the shortcut always opens Firefox in the private browsing mode.
